Stay up to date with the latest changes and improvements to SmartMTR.
Version 2.1 — iOS Update
Version 2.1 brings two major features from the macOS version to iOS.
- QSO Recordings: Record your QSOs directly on iOS — capture the S-meter display together with DAX audio from your FlexRadio and save as shareable video files.
- Spectrum Scope: Real-time spectrum scope visualization now available on iOS, giving you a live view of band activity right on your device.
Version 2.0 — Major Update
SmartMTR 2.0 is a ground-up redesign — a completely new app with a focused dual-slice layout, on-meter controls, and professional TX metering.
- Redesigned Dual-Slice S-Meter: New meter face with dedicated Slice A and Slice B displays, replacing the old multi-slice grid.
- TX Meters with Live Needles: Four dedicated TX meter indicators — SWR, Compression, RF Power, and Mic Level — now shown as live animated needles instead of text readouts. Selectable RF Power scale (0–120 W / 0–600 W).
- On-Meter Controls: Scroll or click directly on the meter to adjust frequency (MHz/kHz/Hz independently), operating mode, filter bandwidth, and RX/TX antennas. Band switching with per-band memory (frequency, mode, filter, antenna saved per band). Optional natural scroll direction.
- Widget Dock: Selectable center widget area — choose between UTC Clock, Spectrum Analyser, Signal History chart, or custom Labels.
- Spectrum Analyser: Real-time 32-bar FFT visualization of DAX RX or Mic audio, displayed directly on the meter.
- Signal History: 30-second rolling signal strength chart with selectable slice source.
- Filters Window: Dedicated per-slice filter controls — Volume, AGC (mode, gain, threshold), Noise Reduction (NB, WNB, NR, NRL, NRS, NRF, RNN), and Notch & Peak Filters (ANF, APF). Toggle and level slider per filter, grouped by category.
- Improved Recorder: Longer recording durations — 30 s, 2 min, 5 min, 10 min. Screen capture via ScreenCaptureKit with permission prompt. Recordings stored in ~/Documents/SmartMTR/.
- Liquid Glass Effect: Optional blur effect for a modern glass-like visual style.
- Configurable Extremes Speed: Choose Fast (1 s), Normal (3 s), or Slow (5 s) for the signal extremes arc.
- Keep Windows: Recorder and Filters windows restore automatically between sessions.
Removed in 2.0:
- Multi-slice grid (1–8 slices) — replaced by focused dual-slice (A + B) layout.
- Old Clock and Old Car meter background styles — single redesigned meter face.
Version 1.4
- Extremes Display Control: Choose how Signal Extremes are displayed — Disabled, Discreet, or Conspicuous — to match your visual preference.
- Slice Selector: Easily choose which slice meters (A–H) are visible using new checkboxes.
Version 1.3 — Bug Fixes
- Connection Fix: Fixed a connection issue caused by GUI Mode being enabled — disabling GUI Mode now allows more clients to connect simultaneously.
- Demo Mode Fix: Fixed RX Filter metric not showing values in demo mode.
Version 1.2
- Recordings: Record your S-meter together with the received audio — straight from your FlexRadio. Recordings are saved as video files to your Movies folder and are easy to share with friends or on social media.
- Signal Extremes: A new arc on the meter face shows the minimum and maximum signal levels from the past few seconds. At a glance you can see how much a signal has varied — great for comparing antenna positions or watching for fading.
- New Metric — RX Filter: A new bottom-corner metric shows the current receiver filter bandwidth, especially useful when recording.
- Window Resizing Improvements: A new bottom-right corner drag handle makes resizing easier. Auto-resize on slice change now adjusts height only, keeping your preferred width. A minimum window height ensures the first meter is always fully visible.
- Visual Improvements: Existing meter faces have been refined.
- Network Stability: General network stability improvements.
Version 1.1
- New Meter Appearances: Two additional visual themes — "Old Clock" and "Old Car" — offering a vintage aesthetic alongside the original Maestro style.
- Configurable Display Options: Customize what information appears on the meter face. Bottom-left corner supports S-Meter, TX Power, SWR, Voltage, or Fan RPM. Bottom-right corner can display frequency and mode.
- Enhanced Network Reliability: Improved handling of network errors for more stable connections in varied network environments.
- Manual IP Address Entry: Connect to your radio by entering its IP address directly — useful when automatic discovery is unavailable due to network configuration.
Version 1.0 — Initial Release
